    Overall Job Summary

    This position is responsible for a team that implements, unit tests, deploys, maintains and supports features for all Tractor Supply Company (TSC) consumer brand e-commerce sites. Additional responsibilities include directing technical work, leading projects and mentoring team members.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

    + Lead, mentor, and manage a team of developers, ensuring best practices in coding, architecture, and deployment.

    + Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to align development efforts with business objectives.

    + Drive innovation and continuous improvement in digital solutions.

    + Develop, configure, build, review and unit test software/solutions.

    + Supervise and direct work of individuals within the team.

    + Meet with technical leads, architects and vendor partners to determine project scope and vision, set system goals, identify and resolve system issues, and ensure the system is implemented as designed as well as in adherence to the implementation guidelines.

    + Liaison with business users and other IT teams.

    + Hire, develop and motivate assigned staff.

    + Participate and make recommendations on the technical and functional direction of their domain.

    + Work with the Enterprise teams to ensure changes are properly documented, communicated, audited, and deployed in compliance with established procedures.

    + Mentor team members in new technologies in areas of expertise.

    Required Qualifications

    Experience: 10+ years of experience supporting a production e-commerce platform such as IBM’s WebSphere Commerce Suite, as well as multiple years of experience developing web applications using enterprise Java technologies. Retail experience is preferred.

     

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field is preferred. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

    Professional Certifications:

    • Certification in Microservices and Front End technologies is preferred.

    • Programmer certification in Java is preferred.

    Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities

    + Superior knowledge of Microservices, React, and WebSphere Commerce v7 and up application development.

    + Superior knowledge of web application development using enterprise Java technologies and frameworks.

    + Strong familiarity with presentation layer technologies including HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Java Script, Java Script Object Notation (JSON), and Dojo is preferred.

    + Strong familiarity with web service technologies including Simple Object Access Protocal (SOAP), Representational State Transfer (REST), Web Service Definition Language (WSDL), and Axis is preferred.

    + Strong knowledge of specific Java technologies including JavaServer Pages (JSP), JavaServer Pages Standard Tag Library (JSTL), Java Database Connectivity (JDBC), Java Architecture for XML Binding (JAXB) is preferred.

    + Strong familiarity using Subversion (SVN) or GIT for source code management is preferred.

    + Strong knowledge of profiling techniques, memory management, and performance tuning is preferred.

    + Demonstrated collaboration skills with the ability to handle conflict and to work with a distributed team.

    + Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal.
