Job Description

Title: Elementary STEM Coach (Grades K-5)

Qualifications:

+ Hold valid New York State Elementary Teacher Certification

+ Strong background/experience in elementary Mathematics instruction

+ Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills

+ Effective communication and problem solving skills

+ Strong knowledge of curriculum and the instructional process

+ Ability to work collaboratively in an educational setting

+ Be able to work effectively with all stakeholders

Responsibilities :Shall include but are not limited to the following:

+ Facilitate curriculum development and revision, emphasizing vertical alignment across grade bands

+ Plan, develop and implement professional learning aligned to VCSD Strategic/Management Plans. :

+ Primary Focus - NYS Next Generation Mathematics Instructional Shifts

+ Support - NYSSLS Instructional Shifts, NYS Elementary Science Investigations (3-5), NYSSLS-aligned instructional programs/resources

+ Inquiry based Tier 1 Instructional strategies

+ Integration of SEL within instructional planning

+ Provide Tier 1 (classroom based) instructional support during STEM instruction

+ Communicate with Teacher Leaders, Classroom teachers and Special Educators in support of student learning

+ Explore opportunities to promote STEM integration in the classroom as well as across the district

+ Collaborate with the Director of Science and Mathematics and the Secondary STEM Coach to coordinate the implementation of new curriculum and monitoring of instructional shifts

+ Analyze data in conjunction with the Director of Science and Mathematics to inform needs

+ Coordinate, in conjunction with building based teacher leaders and administrators, the organization of instructional materials and resources to support assessment

+ Participate in professional learning and networking within and beyond the region to deepen understanding of instructional best practices in STEM

+ Other duties as assigned by the P-12 Director of Science and Mathematics

Reports to: P-12 Director of Science and Mathematics

Salary: As per the contract between Victor Central Schools and the Victor Central Teachers’ Association

Terms of Employment:

The position of Elementary STEM Coach is a ten-month position with up to 20 days of paid work in the summer. The terms established in accordance with the contract between the Superintendent of Schools and the Victor Teachers’ Association.

Salary:Minimum starting salary $48,502 (negotiable based on experience), as per the Victor Teachers' Association agreement. The VTA contract can be found on the Victor Central School District website under the Human Resources tab.
