    The Department of Student Engagement & Activities has an outstanding opportunity for an Activities Advisor to join their team.

     

    This position focuses on the advising and supervising of all Club Council members and advisement of student club events, programming, and financial questions. This position also provides direct support for all large-scale department events and club events.

     

    This position works closely with our registered student organization and there are a lot of nuances with club spending and advising. This position also works directly with SAF funds and must follow all guidelines around spending.

     

    Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Engagement & Activities (SEA), the SEA Activities Advisor is a full-time professional staff position that manages programs designed to foster student learning, development, enhance community building, and promote student retention. The Activities Advisor collaborates with the larger SEA team, plans, implements, and assesses campus wide programming, and advises student organizations and clubs in planning, implementing, and assessing programs.

     

    The SEA Activities Advisor should be a high energy, positive role model who is committed to student affairs, leadership education and the specific needs of our key populations (e.g. undergraduate, graduate, residential, commuters & transfer students). The position involves high student contact, and evening and weekend hours are frequent.

     

    **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Student Supervision/Advising

    + Serve as advisor for assigned Student Clubs, usually in categories based on club type, such as cultural, international, academic, performing arts, political/social action, business, engineering, recreation/sports groups or special interest.

    + Assists students with planning, budgeting, promotions, execution, management, and assessment of club-hosted events/initiatives in assigned functional area such as lectures, concerts, cultural programs, event fairs, dances, and workshops.

    + Monitor and advise Club Council regarding day-to-day operations, which could include personnel issues, risk management, financial transactions, contracts, programs, and campus services.

    + Advocate for student clubs across campus.

    + Solves problems as a mediator, facilitator regarding policy violations and disciplinary issues.

    + Interpret University and state policies, procedures, and regulations, and other legal requirements as they relate to student clubs and ensure compliance in all club matters.

    + Advise Associate Director on emerging and ongoing issues among student clubsProgramming Management & Development

    + Assist supervisor with assigned functional areas of oversight: Events & Programming or Leadership & Organizations.

    + Develop and implement on-going information sessions and trainings in specialty areas such as major events, leadership or other engagement areas.

    + Develop, implement and assess educational materials and presentations on student club policies and protocols.

    + Communicate and present complex information across multiple platforms (social media, email, websites, in-person, etc.) to a diverse audience, including students, staff, faculty and the public.

    + Maintain current and historical records for all programs. Prepare quarterly and annual reports.

    + As part of the SEA team, coordinate and/or assist a variety SEA and campus-wide sponsored events.Operations

    + Provides support to the Director of SEA in developing, assessing, and revising learning outcomes for student staff, programs, and department.

    + Create and implement an assessment plan for student organization(s)

    + Create, monitor, track, adjust, and forecast assigned departmental budgets.

    + Assist with development and monitoring of all budgets of assigned clubs for compliance with applicable policies and procedures. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**

    + Bachelor's degree in education, Counseling, or other related field and two years of experience within a college or university setting in the areas of student affairs or student activities. **Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**

    + Must demonstrate skills in advising and working collaboratively with a diverse group of students, staff and faculty.

    + Experience coordinating, executing, and evaluating effective student events and programs in a college setting.

    + Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and administrative skills.

    + Must be excited to work in a diverse, dynamic, challenging environment. **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**

    + 1 year of experience in higher education in a student facing role.

    + Experience working directly with student social justice and diversity programs, registered student organizations and clubs, programs, campus programming board, student government, or student media and publications advising.

    + Demonstrated knowledge in applying a social justice and equity theoretical framework to program design, implementation, and evaluation.

    + A transparent, collaborative working style, characterized by listening and consensus.
