Description
The Communications and Development Specialist represents an important position within the Global Health Program (GHP). Specifically, the Communications and Development Specialist will play a key role in managing GHP's communications to all audiences, including the wider UCLA community, donors, and other external stakeholders. The Communications and Development Specialist will work closely with the GHP Director to develop a structured and cohesive strategy and operational plan to communicate a wide range of activities within the UCLA global health community to diverse audiences. The Specialist will also work closely with the GHP Director to develop and implement a strategy on current and new donor outreach and relationship management, among other tasks. This position requires adaptability and flexibility, as GHP continues to evolve and expand its programming. We anticipate increased opportunities for philanthropically driven programmatic growth over the next several years.
Salary Range: $76,200 - $158,800 Annually
Qualifications
All Preferred:
+ Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience/training
+ At least 5 years of work experience, preferably in health/global public health sector or in communications, with specific advanced skills in developing written, visual, social media, and other forms of materials to publicize and garner positive attention to an organization or unit's portfolio of programming
+ Exceptional interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively, diplomatically, and cooperatively with a wide range of international, domestic, and UC leadership, faculty, staff, administrators, and collaborators
+ Outstanding attention to detail
+ Analytical and proactive thinking
+ Experience with marketing and/or public relations
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
+ Proficient with creating professional PowerPoint presentations with animations
+ Proficient with website management
+ Exceptional writing skills
+ Excellent organizational and organizational management skills
+ Ability to travel internationally, as needed
+ Able to work independently and meet strict deadlines
+ Team player and culturally sensitive/competent

+ Experience in academic medicine or with non-profit health organization
