The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time radiation oncologist at the Associate or Professor level (commensurate with previous experience). The department provides radiation oncology services at 8 practice settings in Maryland, with a vigorous program of research across basic, translational, and clinical foci.The ideal candidate will have a record of excellence in leadership, clinical practice and documented success in academic research and extramural support. As Executive Vice Chair/Vice Chair of Research, this faculty position will provide strategic vision for our department’s research endeavors. These include our Division of Translational Radiation Sciences, with a distinguished history of achievement and grant/contract funding in cellular responses to DNA damage, development of original preclinical models of radiation effects on normal tissue, and medical countermeasures research; and the collaborative translational efforts of our large Medical Physics team, noted for introduction of innovative technologies and standard setting in quality assurance measures. The position will also work closely with our nationally recognized clinical research team and participate in providing patient care at the Maryland Proton Treatment Center and/or another of our clinical sites. This salary range does not include all components of the Radiation Oncology faculty compensation program or pay from participation in Radiation Oncology variable compensation programs.
