    Under the supervision of the School Principal, the physical education teacher provides direct instruction to students in accordance with each student's Individual Education Plan. In addition to providing instruction in Health and Physical Education, the teacher shall focus clearly on the development of positive attitudes toward education and socially acceptable behaviors. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: a) Maintain accurate daily attendance records, b) Participate in the development of each child's Individual Education Plan, c) Develop and implement lessons that follow students IEP’s, NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards and School approved Physical Education and Health curriculum, d) Prepare quarterly evaluations, Progress Reports and Report Cards for each student in relation to his/her IEP goals and objectives, e) Selection and ordering of appropriate instructional equipment and materials.

     

    New Jersey State certification as a Teacher of Health and Physical Education. Excellent interpersonal and child management skills. The physical and technical ability to utilize passive physical restraint techniques to prevent seriously acting out students from harming self or others. Required to participate in CPR and First Aid training and required to perform techniques as needed.
