Job Summary: Provides leadership direction of the hospital's Central Sterile department, including decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by Central Sterile. Maintain a consistent high standard of supplies, assure that the department will meet or exceed the Joint Commission requirements and be maintained in a cost effective manner. Leads the department in performance improvement activities.

The role you’ll contribute:

+ Monitor and maintain staff competences, credentialing and continuing education in accordance to hospital policy and JCAHO standards.

+ Develops new employee orientation guidelines and monitors staff progress for success.

+ Proficient in and serves as a resource for the use of all department equipment.

+ Maintains current MSR for all instruments, sets and equipment

+ Maintains certifications and nursing license

+ Oversees rotation of supplies and removal of out dated supplies in CSR storage room

+ Provides oversight of productivity and budgeting

+ Oversee CSR participation in yearly supply inventory activity

+ Works with Material Management buyer to establish and maintain par levels of supplies in CSR storage room

+ Sterilize instruments, equipment, utensils, linen and supplies using various types of sterilization methods aerators. Load autoclaves in the prescribed manner and set controls to specified time and temperature according to material and requirements of items being sterilized.

Qualifications

License and Certifications Required:

+ CST, CRCST, or CSPDT certification

+ Management experience in Central Sterile

+ High school diploma or GED
