    Summary:

    The Neurodiagnostic Techno II performs standard and complex neurodiagnostic & polysomnography tests in the Sleep Disorders Center. UNC Sleep Disorders Center is an AASM accredited lab specializing in chronic care of respiratory disorders in adult, pediatric and high acuity patients. We specialize in quality patient care, research and growth in the field of sleep medicine.     *This position qualifies for a $10,000 commitment incentive which will be paid over a three (3) year work commitment.

    **Responsibilities** :

    1. May provide instruction and guidance to other technologists in the Neurodiagnostic/Sleep Disorders Lab.

    2. Patient Assessment - Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care, including but not limited to; polysomnographic testing with possible oxygen therapy and continuous positive air pressure treatments (CPAP), BiPAP and other ventilatory modalities.

    3. Performs room and equipment set-up in lab and in an inpatient setting. Calibrates and maintains equipment.

    4. Collects and scores polysomnographic tests.

    5. Takes patient histories. Instruct patients and families on test preparation and pretest interviews.

    Qualifications

    Education Requirements:

    • Graduation from an acceptable program of Neurophysiology

    Licensure/Certification Requirements:

    • Registered in one of the following specialty areas:

    •EEG (Electroencecephalogram- R. EEG T., CLTM)

    •Polysomnography (RPSGT)

    •Registered Sleep Technologist (RST)

    Professional Experience Requirements:

    • If completion of an acceptable program of Neurophysiology: No prior experience required.

    • Requires High School Diploma if no graduation from an acceptable program of Neurophysiology and two (2) years of experience performing a variety of Sleep or Neurodiagnostics procedures.

    Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

    Understands and applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to care provided in the Sleep Disorders Program.
