Summary:
Meta is seeking a highly motivated attorney for its global cybersecurity legal team. The attorney will work on a range of cybersecurity matters for the Meta family of products, including Facebook, Reality Labs, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The position will be responsible for supporting and enhancing Meta’s comprehensive information security program and counseling Meta’s security teams that protect our users and their data. This position requires someone who can work well with cross-functional partners, navigate ambiguity, and drive forward results in a fast-paced environment. This position is a full-time role and will entail domestic and occasional international travel.
Required Skills:
Lead Counsel, Cybersecurity Law Responsibilities:
1. Support efforts to constantly maintain and enhance Meta's information security position
2. Support regulatory compliance and engagement efforts on cybersecurity related matters
3. Counsel teams in developing products with security by design
4. Support and oversee the company’s efforts to maintain and enhance its information sharing posture, including in areas such as vulnerability management, incident response, cloud security, vendor management, insider threats, and information sharing
5. Review and provide guidance on cybersecurity plans

6. J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent)
7. Active membership in at least one US state bar and eligibility to obtain registered in-house counsel status (if required by the State Bar in the assigned work location)
8. 3+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm and/or in-house or government experience
9. Demonstrate business judgment and client counseling skills
10. Effective communication skills

11. 5+ years of practicing attorney experience at a law firm, government, and/or in-house role
12. 3+ years of experience working in the field of cybersecurity or privacy
13. Certifications relevant to the cybersecurity field (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CIPP)
14. Experience working with data protection authorities, government cybersecurity, law enforcement or data protection agencies, or Internet industry associations
15. Knowledge and experience with cybersecurity, data protection, criminal law and procedure, and national security laws
16. Experience in drafting and/or executing legal documents (e.g., legal agreements, court submissions)
Public Compensation:
$167,000/year to $233,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
