The Cardio Catheterization Technician performs a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks to assist physicians in performing complex invasive cardiac catheterization procedures and surgeries.

+ Uses imaging equipment to help doctors detect and treat any heart and blood vessel issues.

+ Takes patients’ medical history and answers patients’ questions before any procedure is done.

+ Ensures that the equipment is in good working order and ready for use.

+ Executes any noninvasive course of action, such as ultrasound images.

+ Evaluates images to ensure good quality and makes sure that area in question is included.

+ Keeps abreast of the differences between a normal image and an abnormal image.

+ Communicates with the physician regarding the results of the image.

+ Assists the physician with inserting catheters and other invasive procedures.

+ Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUN QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

+ Associate degree or equivalent

Experience:

+ Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

+ Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

+ Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

+ Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

+ Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

+ Commitment to the University’s core values.

+ Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
