    Description

    The School of Health Professions (SHP) at Stony Brook University invites applicants to apply for a faculty position in the Department of Physician Assistant Education. This is a non-tenure track, 12-month faculty appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. The Department of Physician Assistant Education is delivered at both the Stony Brook University Health Sciences Center and Stony Brook University Southampton locations. This faculty position will be located on the Stony Brook Campus with the need to also have a presence on the Southampton campus for instruction and program need.

     

    The faculty will report to the Chairperson of the Department of Physician Assistant Education and will have responsibilities in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. This position will require that courses be taught in-person with the ability to teach online or in hybrid format. All candidates should be prepared to advise students, mentor student research projects, oversee students while on clinical rotation and assist the Chairperson with accreditation efforts, alumni engagement, recruitment and retention, external giving outreach and other assignments which contribute to program growth.

The School of Health Professions’ Department of Physician Assistant Education offers a Master's degree, and the program is accredited by the ARC-PA. The department provides a dynamic learning experience through interdisciplinary and professional collaborative research, relationships with strong community programs, and opportunities to develop scholarly activities both within the department and the healthcare community. The School of Health Professions and the Department of Physician Assistant Education offer faculty opportunities for mentorship and growth as well as a flexible work schedule.     Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    Degree in Physician Assistant Education from an accredited program. NCCPA certification. Valid NY State license to practice as a PA. Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience. Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Record of teaching. Served as clinical preceptor for minimum of two (2) years. Experience with ARC PA Standards and Accreditation. Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) – earned or in progress.
