    The Department of Social Work withing the College of Health & Human Services at Western Kentucky University is happy to announce we are accepting application for our next BSW Field Director. The Field Director is a critical faculty nine-month faculty role at the rank of Instructor I who utilizes the field practicum as the medium that unifies the Department and the social work agency community to develop professionally grounded social workers that are knowledgeable, skilled, and ethical. Once acclimated to the position, there is the possibility of teaching assignments in the BSW and/or MSW program as part of the workload for this position. Teaching would take place in the fall and winter terms as the spring and summer are focused on field placement orientation, coordination, approvals, etc. In addition to directing the Field Office and some teaching, the position will involve curriculum development, advising students related to field matters, and performing university/public service.

    Primary responsiblities will include but are not limited to:

    + Oversees all aspects of the Field Office for the Department's BSW programs, including hybrid and online program options. The BSW Program services between 90 -125 student placements yearly.

    + Identifies appropriate internship sites; assists and prepares students for the transition to the field; and facilitates correspondence, communication, and professional relationships with agencies in the community, state, region, and beyond.

    + Manages and facilitates all field related policies, procedures, and correspondence.

    + Ensures compliance with CSWE Accreditation and actively integrates accreditation standards within the field curriculum.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Considered Essential for Success:

    + Open to engaging in alternative modes of instructional delivery that will include web-based courses both synchronous and asynchronous formats.

    + Comfortable operating effectively in a diverse multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment.

    + Articulates a well-defined field philosophy.

    + Willing to learn and further develop the current field software platform.

    + Familiarity with roles of field liaison and field instructor.

    Job Requirements:

    + A master's in social work or social welfare from a CSWE accredited program,

    + A minimum of 5 years of post-master's social work practice experience.
