    Description

    The Division of Neonatology is seeking a physician who is a recent Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship graduate or early-to-mid-level in his/her academic career with a history of excellent training and success in the clinical and academic realms. The new faculty member will deliver clinical care in the neonatal intensive care unit and develop a career in research and/or education. Successful candidates will display a commitment to pursuing a career that includes publishing and, where appropriate, obtaining extramural grant support for their research. Candidates with interests in clinical/translational investigation, neonatal follow-up, simulation, and/or growth and nutrition are especially desired. Neonatal-perinatal fellowship training is a requirement.

     

    The University of Rochester is a major research university with a long history of clinical and laboratory investigations in neonatology. Rochester is located on the southern shore of Lake Ontario, just north of the breathtaking Finger Lakes region, and boasts affordable living, highly-ranked public schools, outstanding cultural amenities, and a vibrant metropolitan area. The Division of Neonatology consists of 26 neonatologists, several pediatricians, and 5 tenure-track PhD laboratory investigators. Major clinical and laboratory research areas include pulmonary biology, neonatal clinical trials, retinopathy of prematurity, childhood pulmonary outcomes of premature infants, neurodevelopment, growth and nutrition, neonatal hematology, neonatal immunology, simulation, machine learning, and quality improvement. Faculty hold a variety of federally-funded grants and contracts, including several multicenter grants. The division’s clinical research group includes research coordinators, research nurses, and data management staff, and it supports 12 investigators with research programs in a wide variety of areas. Support for clinical and translational research is provided in part by the University’s National Center for Advancing Translational Science (NCATS)-funded Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI). The CTSI provides research support and master’s and doctoral training in public health and clinical and translational investigation.

     

    The Division provides neonatal care at the University’s 68-bed Level IV NICU and at the Rochester General Hospital 14-bed Level II SCN. The University is the Regional Perinatal Center for the Finger Lakes Region of New York State, with a catchment area of 1.2 million.

    Qualifications

    Successful candidates will have shown outstanding promise and commitment to caring for patients and children. Requirements include an MD or Equivalent, NYS license or license eligible, a DEA license, and Board Certification or Eligibility to become Board Certified in Neonatology.

Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience, and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries.
