Within OMA&D is the College Access unit and the Multicultural Outreach & Recruitment department that implements programs focused on expanding access for American Indian and underserved communities by partnering with K-12 school districts, two-year colleges, and community coalitions.
The Assistant Director for Multicultural Outreach & Recruitment (MOR) works to enable the University of Washington to meet its goals for undergraduate enrollment. The Assistant Director is tasked with using data, assessment and technology to build capacity within the team. The incumbent is responsible for query and report construction. This position oversees the MOR visitation and student ambassador program as well as one professional staff position.
This position represents the UW to internal and external audiences.
Position Dimensions and Impact to the University:
This position is a member of the Multicultural Outreach and Recruitment (MOR) team and partners with the Office of Admissions team of professionals committed to attracting and enrolling talented and diverse students to the University of Washington (UW) in order to help create an intellectually and culturally vibrant student body. This position helps the University of Washington advance the University's compelling interest in making sure it is accessible to talented students from all social identities by helping remove barriers to the recruitment of talented underrepresented student populations.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Administrative Operations- 35%
+ Lead for on campus MOR events including but not limited to Shades of Purple, Affinity Conferences, iDub, Transfer Student Luncheon.
+ Work in collaboration with Director to plan and implement budgets.
+ Project management includes: venues, contracts, vendors, understanding UW policies and requirements, communications, permission slips, staffing, agenda. Development of surveys, productivity (ROI) reports.
+ Provides analysis and synthesis to inform existing and proposed event and visitation efforts, programs, and initiatives based on enrollment benchmarks and database reports. Recommends enrollment strategy improvements and efficiencies. Create ways to collect relevant data collection to inform strategy.Program Oversight - 25%
+ Manage and oversee the MOR Student Ambassador and Visitation Program, Program Manager
+ This includes working in collaboration with Director to plan and implement budget, and day to day administration operations.Strategic Planning - 20%
+ Assist Director with strategic planning of the Multicultural Outreach & Recruitment department, including annual calendar, trainings, management, business process, budgeting and hiring. Serve as a manager of staff in absence of Director.Compliance - 10%
+ Manage MOR department’s compliance with the Office of Youth Protection’s Youth Program Registration System (YPRS).Reporting - 5%
+ Create/run queries and recommend report improvements. Ensure integration of MOR programming data with CRM.Other duties as assigned - 5% **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
+ Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years of progressive college admissions and/or outreach experience, or equivalent. _Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration._ **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
+ Strong public speaking skills and the ability to present the University in a positive way to diverse populations.
+ A highly motivated self-starter with an ability to set and meet goals, to make decisions independently, and to multi-task and prioritize in fast-paced environments
+ Fearless communicator with demonstrated in-person, social media, and strong writing skills.
+ Team player who can play both a leading and a supporting role.
+ Familiarity with challenges facing both urban and rural communities.
+ Experience working with underrepresented students, multicultural outreach programs and recruitment events.
+ Must be able to effectively communicate across various demographics beyond and within the UW campus.
+ Must be comfortable with technology and have proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and database software tools.
+ Must be able to demonstrate ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
+ Strong communications, interpersonal, presentation and computer skills.
+ Leadership in event planning and implementation experience.
+ Must be flexible and have the drive to work in a fast-paced office. **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Masters degree
+ Experience in college admissions, recruitment experience, or early outreach and engagement with youth in Washington and an understanding of the distinctive qualities of the UW.
+ Experience working with first generation, American Indian/Alaska Native, and/or racial/ethnically diverse populations as well as an understanding of their cultural differences and their effect on college planning.
