    Description

    The Department of Medicine, Division of Transitional Care Medicine is seeking to hire a full-time doctoral-level Board Certified Behavior Analyst in the Division of Transitional Care Medicine of the Department of Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Rochester. This position will sit on the Intensive Behavior Team (IBT), an outpatient and inpatient team comprised of doctoral- and masters- level behavior analysts. This team works across the URMC system as part of a multidisciplinary collaboration that includes faculty and staff in Transitional Care Medicine, Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Hospital Medicine, and Psychiatry. It is expected that this faculty will participate in active clinical and research programs focusing on individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across the age span.

     

    The faculty member will support IBT leadership efforts to implement a clinical program of ABA therapy and expertise in multiple clinical settings including inpatient, outpatient, primary care, and community settings. In addition, the faculty member will participate in evaluation of the impact of behavioral intervention to existing care. The University of Rochester is committed to enhancing the care of individuals with IDD.

     

    Patient Care

    Primary clinical activities include:

    • maintaining outpatient behavioral clinics for adolescents and adults with IDD,

    • inpatient services related to consultation and program development for individuals with complex behavioral needs,

    • providing functional behavioral assessments and recommendations to providers requesting consultation for patients with IDD in outpatient, inpatient and community settings

    • providing training for care teams in supporting patients with IDD,

    • assessment of care settings for opportunities to reduce challenging behaviors and promote participation with care plans, and

    • evaluation of the impact of the behavioral intervention for program development purposes.

     

    Faculty will have the opportunity to lead on the development of other clinical initiatives as determined by ongoing project evaluation, their expertise, and research interests.

     

    Participation in the Academic Mission

     

    The applicant will be encouraged to participate in scholarly activities as evidenced by: publication of clinical investigation (e.g., single subject design studies), reviews, and chapters; and reviewing manuscripts. The position may include clinical assessment of research participants as a collaborator with other faculty.

     

    Teaching

     

    Teaching interdisciplinary providers and trainees through didactic teaching sessions and durable materials will be a critical part of this role. Faculty are expected to provide training, conference presentations, and participate in teaching opportunities at the medical center for residents, fellows, and interns. In addition, this role will support supervision and teaching of program BCBAs and RBTs.

     

    Administrative

     

    All faculty serve as consultants to other faculty and community physicians. Faculty are expected to be academically current in the field through continuing education, literature and seminars and complete the continuing education necessary for URMC credentialing. Additionally, faculty will take a role in the development of departmental policies, procedures and standards. Faculty may be assigned to divisional, departmental, or faculty committees. Participation in local or regional clinical affairs through membership in clinical societies or specialty governing boards is encouraged.

     

    Community based activities to engage with stakeholder assessment of needs, awareness of new program and workflow design will be part of this role.

    Qualifications

    PhD in Applied Behavior Analysis

     

    Eligible for a Faculty Appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry

     

    Must meet all credentialing requirements

     

    Eligible for Board Certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (i.e., BCBA)

     

    NY licensed or license-eligible in Applied Behavior Analysis. Must obtain NYS license prior to start date.

     

    Post offer Drug Screen and Health Assessment required

     

    Compliance with University and New York State health requirements
