    Salary Range: $222,950 (Min) - $305,000 (Max) (Executive Hay: 2368)

    Responsibilities

    New York City Transit is looking for a dynamic Senior Vice President of Buses.

     

    The Senior Vice President, Bus is the senior most operational position in the Department of Buses (DOB) and MTA Bus Company and is a member of the New York City Transit (NYCT) senior executive team. This position reports directly to the President of NYCT and reports to the COO, NYCT. The person in this role is accountable for planning, directing, and overseeing all NYCT bus and MTA Bus company operations and maintenance in a coordinated and integrated manner, to provide safe, reliable, and efficient service to the public. The incumbent is charged with overseeing the ongoing operations of the daily surface schedule, with a significant emphasis on the reduction in cost of daily operations, as well as the improvement of overall quality and safety of daily service. Oversees the development of operating plans and policies, and the development of DOB’s capital program and system expansion projects. Directs the development and implementation of new technology projects. Advises the President and COO, NYCT on all matters pertinent to DOB operations. Participates in and contributes to all MTA Board, TA Committee, and FTA meetings. Represents NYCT at forums on service-related concerns.

    Education & Experience

    A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Transportation Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely field of study, and fifteen (15) years of full-time related experience; of which twelve (12) years must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity;

    OR

    A satisfactory combination of education and experience.

    Specialized Experience:

    Thorough knowledge of the NYCT and Bus rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Demonstrated experience interfacing with multi-level government agencies and oversight organizations. Ability to effectively manage a large, diverse employee population. Excellent strategic skills. Proven negotiation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

     

    Desired Skills

     

    + Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, together with demonstrated quantitative skills and proficiency in Excel modeling.

    + Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the talent to communicate complex quantitative concepts in a clear and succinct way to internal stakeholders.

    + Strong interpersonal skills with an established history of working on projects requiring group consensus and cooperation among people with no direct reporting relationships.

    + Must be capable of building a strong and successful network, developing new relationships and influencing decision makers.

    + Demonstrated ability to work in team and/or group settings, including team process and staff development skills.

    + Ability to prioritize among competing needs and opportunities and manage multiple projects at the same time.
