Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) has an exciting opportunity for an Access Manager. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Access Manager to oversee all patient access functions and related activities. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth coordination of admissions, bed and room assignments, and the collection of socio-economic data for patient accounts. The Access Manager will also play a key role in creating a positive first impression of the hospital by greeting and assisting patients and visitors, notifying relevant departments of patient arrivals, and directing patients to their scheduled appointments.
What you’ll do day to day:
+ **Ensure Compliance and Data Quality:** Oversee the accurate collection of patient, guarantor, and socio-economic data; review admissions daily, prepare reports, and assist in developing the Access Procedures Manual while providing training for staff.
+ **Schedule Coordination:** Manage 24-hour coverage for the Switchboard and Access Department, ensuring budget compliance.
+ **Enhance Department Operations:** Conduct timely follow-ups on registrations, maintain industry standards for payor-specific outstanding days, verify Medicaid accounts, and communicate effectively with patients regarding their claims.
+ **Maintain Professional Competence:** Complete annual certifications in relevant areas, attend staff meetings and training programs, and stay updated on patient accounting literature.
Qualifications and Expectations
+ Education: High School Diploma required; BA or BS preferred.
+ Experience: 3-5 years in a similar hospital position.
+ Technical Skills: Proficient with hospital electronic medical records systems.
+ Certifications: A Certified Patient Account Technician (CPAT) or Certified Clinical Account Technician (CCAT) is required; a Certified Professional Account Manager (CPAM) credential is preferred.
+ Leadership Skills: Ability to schedule, plan, supervise, and evaluate personnel activities.
+ Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal and external customers.
