Job Description
SCOPE OF WORK:
The Career Pathways Program supports refugees and immigrants in overcoming barriers to career advancement by connecting them with training, resources, and job opportunities. The Career Pathways Intern will assist the Career Pathways staff members in providing career coaching, administrative support, and outreach efforts to ensure program participants receive guidance in achieving their career goals. This role is ideal for individuals interested in workforce development, social services, refugee integration, and career counseling.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client Support & Case Management Assistance:
Assist with pre-enrollment assessments to determine program eligibility.
Assist in building career development plans and tracking progress.
Provide assistance in resume writing, job search strategies, and interview preparation.
Accompany clients to job fairs, career workshops, and networking events when needed.
Assist in delivering group sessions on work readiness and employability skills.
Administrative & Program Support:
Assist in maintaining accurate client records and case notes.
Support data entry and reporting to ensure compliance with program requirements.
Help create informational materials, flyers, and presentations to promote the program.
Assist in research and compile resources on job training, certifications, and employment opportunities.
Assist in gathering success stories and client testimonials to showcase program impact.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the internship, the intern will:
Career Coaching & Case Management – Assist with career assessments, resume building, job search, and interview prep for refugees and immigrants.
Workforce Development – Understand employment trends, vocational training, and barriers to workforce integration.
Program Administration – Develop skills in data management, client documentation, and outreach material creation.
Community & Employer Engagement – Support employer outreach, job fairs, and career workshops.
Cross-Cultural Communication – Build cultural competency and advocacy skills for diverse clients.
Professional Development – Strengthen problem-solving, public speaking, and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
REQUIREMENTS:Volunteers must be based in the U.S. Interns must be based in US, must be a US citizen or have US work authorization, must be enrolled in post-secondary institution or have graduated from a post-secondary institution within last 2 years.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in social work, human services, career counseling, workforce development, or a related field.
Strong interest in refugee/immigrant services, career development, and economic empowerment.
Ability to work with diverse populations, including individuals with limited English proficiency.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database management.
Fluency in English required; bilingual candidates (Spanish, Haitian Creole,etc.) preferred.
Additional Information:
This is an unpaid/paid internship (Specify if there’s a stipend or academic credit available).
Hybrid or in-person work required based on program demands.
