    The program coordinator is expected to work 5-10 hours per week during the fall semester with a start date of August 16, 2025.

    Job Title Student Assistant - ASPIRE Program Coordinator

    General Description

    The ASPIRE Summer Bridge Program, provided by Student Development and Access Services, is created to support first-year students in their transition to student life at Stephen F. Austin State University. The program emphasizes the importance of academic excellence and personal growth. In addition, each mentee is paired with a successful SFA alumni, faculty or staff member who wishes to support the mentee as well. This peer-to-peer mentoring program sponsors and encourages attendance at specific programs in which mentors and mentees actively interact and participate.

    Job Duties

    1. Works with the ASPIRE mentoring program staff to coordinate peer mentor training, meetings, ASPIRE mentor socials, program projects, and incentive programs.

    2. Meets bi-weekly with up to three assigned mentees.

    3. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.

     

    No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided.

     

    Must have a 2.7 GPA (cumulative and current) or higher and experience with peer mentorship.

     

    Must be available to work during the summer.

    Special Conditions for Eligibility

    A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.

     

    Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
