    Waste Connections, Inc. is Hiring a Diesel Mechanic!

     

    We have an immediate opening for a high-energy Diesel Mechanic to join our team at the **Opa Locka, FL** facility. Previous waste experience is a huge plus!

     

    This position is night shift, from 2 PM – 12 AM, Monday to Friday, with every other Saturday.

     

    Pay: $30+/hr DOE

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services.

    + Conduct inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.

    + Utilize vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.

    + Complete required paperwork using fleet maintenance software programs to document repairs, parts usage, and repair times.

    + Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.

    + Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.

    + Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.

    + Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

    WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

    + Extensive physical activity, including strenuous physical work such as heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.

    + Sometimes necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and handle greasy or dirty tools. Basic safety precautions must always be followed.

    MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    + Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.

    + Minimum 5+ years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

    + Must provide your own personal tools.

    + Computer experience is required for using fleet maintenance software.

    + Experience with DPF Regeneration systems on CUMMINS and MACK trucks is a plus.

    + **Welding experience required.**
