    Job Summary

    The Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and serves as a member of the leadership team, leading the philanthropic fundraising efforts to enhance the financial stability and growth of the organization. The CAO is responsible for creating and communicating a compelling value proposition that leads to increased visibility, engagement and funding.

     

    The CAO is responsible for executing a relationship-based strategy, designed to expand the donor pipeline; maintain and strengthen relationships with existing donors and increase visibility in and across the twenty-two counties of our council. In addition to managing a personal portfolio of donors, the CAO leads a team of professionals and collaborates across the council to meet and exceed fundraising goals. The CAO works closely with the Board of Directors and the CEO to secure major and visionary gifts for the council. The CAO will work across departments to understand business needs and ensure development and marketing are in operational alignment and trusted partners with every internal department.

    Job Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, or a related field; fundraising certification/CFRE and/or master’s degree preferred.

    • Minimum seven (7) years of direct fundraising experience with a track record of successful fundraising strategies.

    • Previous work within/familiarity with the philanthropic/corporate giving community in South Carolina strongly preferred.

    • Strong leadership and management skills with experience building and leading teams.
