Job Summary

The Medical Appointment Scheduler is primarily responsible for scheduling all client medical appointments referred by the KidsPeace Nursing Department. This responsibility includes matching client insurances with external medical services providers whenever possible and researching alternative providers as needed, as well as assigning KidsPeace drivers to transport those appointments in the most safe, efficient and timely manner as possible. The Medical Appointment Scheduler facilitates pre-authorizations for medical appointments and services as required by the child's insurance carrier and/or KidsPeace contracts with payers.

Job Duties

+ Process all requests for Client consultations with both internal and external medical services providers by contacting the providers, making the appointments and scheduling KidsPeace drivers to provide transportation

+ Match client existing client insurance information with in-network or accepting providers and ensure all relevant insurance and medical information accompanies the client to the appointment

+ Verify and resolve funding issues including billing resolution with external medical providers

+ Check medical assistance eligibility on current residential clients

+ Submit bills/claims for reimbursement to the responsible agency/person and track transactions

+ Examine bills from external providers to ensure all insurance options have been explored/exhausted prior to resolving/paying of claims

+ Communicate both orally and in written form pertinent medical information as needed to both internal and external resources

Qualifications

+ High School Graduate or equivalent required; experience in the medical field preferred

+ Basic computer skills

+ Must be at least 21 years of age
