The Oliverio Lab is seeking a motivated and creative Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team. As a lab in the Department of Biology at Syracuse University, our research spans microbial evolution and ecology, systems biology, genomics, and bioinformatics. To do this, we use a diverse suite of tools, including ‘omics (i.e., metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, genomics), metabolomics, enrichment culturing, and synthetic microbial experiments. We work across a variety of microbial environmental and lab model systems and topics, including 1) microbial eukaryotes in geothermal springs, 2) soil protists and their functional contributions to belowground systems, and 3) synthetic microbiomes (developed from sourdough starters) as a tool to characterize fundamental microbial processes.
The initial appointment is one year, renewable based on performance. Specific research goals will be developed in collaboration with the principal investigator, with extensive opportunity for scientific independence and to pursue research areas and projects aligned with the Postdoctoral Researcher's interests and expertise.
