    Primary Purpose

     

    The ASL Interpreter (all levels) is responsible to provide ASL /English interpreting.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    + Possess the professional skills and knowledge required for the specific interpreting situation.

    + Adhere to standards of confidential communication.

    + Conduct themselves in a manner appropriate to the specific interpreting situation.

    + Maintain ethical business practices.

    Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the duties and responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The individual is expected to follow College work rules and policies.

    Ergonomic Requirements

    Regular office hours are established between 8 am – 5 pm during the workweek. A flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, may be necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities.

     

    All individuals are required to be able to perform essential functions without a significant risk of injury or to otherwise demonstrate or explain how they can perform the essential functions listed above.

    Minimum Requirements

    Level 1 Novice: Associate degree or equivalent

     

    Level 2 Basic: Associate degree plus experience at post-secondary level

     

    Preferred requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Interpreting

     

    Level 3 Associate: Associate degree plus experience at post-secondary level

     

    Preferred Requirement: Bachelor’s plus certification

     

    Level 4 Intermediate: Bachelor’s plus experience at post-secondary level

     

    Preferred Requirement: Bachelor’s plus certification plus experience at post-secondary level

     

    Level 5 Advanced: certification from RID , NAD , BEI

     

    Preferred Requirement: Bachelor’s plus certification plus experience at post-secondary level

     

    Level 6 Master: certification from RID , NAD , BEI

     

    Preferred Requirement: Bachelor’s plus certification plus experience at post-secondary level

     

    Licensure: Obtain and maintain applicable state licensure requirements
