    Job Description:

    The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Lab Technician performs in-vitro analysis of biologic specimens according to the procedures established for routine and specialized areas of the laboratory. The MLT/Lab Technician participates in the supportive functions of quality control, instrument operation, limited troubleshooting, teaching, and limited problem resolution.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    **EDUCATION** ( _For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.)_

    **Required Education:** Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent (i.e. military-trained - Medical Lab Specialist certificate of training obtained prior to April 24, 1995).

    EXPERIENCE

    **Minimum Experience Required:** Current knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment expected.

    **Preferred/Optional Experience:** Previous laboratory experience is recommended. Experience with Laboratory Information Systems is beneficial.

    CERIFICATIONS/LICENSES

    The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position, which must be maintained in good standing:

     

    **Minimum Required:** Certification or eligibility for certification by a nationally-recognized certifying agency.
