    Job Description:

    JOB SUMMARY

    The RN - Week Day - ICU staff nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect total nursing care of ICU patients as well as the monitoring of telemetry

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION

    _For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation._

     

    **Minimum Required:** Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

    **Preferred/Optional:** Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

    EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

    **Minimum Required:** One year ICU registered nursing experience in a like facility within the recent five years, or if training position, two years med/surg or emergency experience as registered nurse. Demonstrates excellence in customer service and professional conduct. Possesses good communication skills. Interacts appropriately and positively with peers, patients, families, physicians, and professionals. Maintains professionalism in the community, protects the confidentiality of the patient and serves as a patient advocate at all times. Knowledge and skills to provide appropriate complex, critical, care to patients of all ages. Ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret appropriate information necessary to identify patient needs in relation to age and provide critical care as described in ICU policy and procedures. Able to function adequately under stressful conditions. Knowledge of cardiac rhythm interpretation. Able to complete ICU competency testing and achieve score of 80% or greater on medication test.

    **Preferred/Optional:** 1-2 years of nursing experience, or recent completion of a nursing education program.

    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

    _The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position._

     

    **Minimum Required:** Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Michigan. BCLS required within 30 days of hire. Conscious sedation certification within 3 months of hire or transfer.

    **Preferred/Optional:** ACLS certification, PALS certification.
