    The Department of English, General Literature and Rhetoric invites applications for an associate professor in rhetoric. We especially welcome scholars who situate rhetorical studies within early modern thought and literature.

     

    The Department of English will serve as the tenure home for this position. The new hire for this position would join a department (https://www.binghamton.edu/english/index.html) distinguished by its breadth and historical bent where they would have an opportunity to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate level. They would also join a growing cohort of scholars in the department and across Harpur College of Arts and Sciences (https://www.binghamton.edu/harpur/faculty/cluster-hire.html#:~:text=Harpur%20College%20is%20spearheading%20a,of%20inequality%20in%20their%20diverse) . The ideal candidate would also want to actively contribute to Binghamton's Center for Medieval and Early Modern Studies (CEMERS) (https://www.binghamton.edu/cemers/index.html) . A strong candidate has been identified for this position.

    Job Requirements:

    Required Qualifications:

    + Ph.D. in English or Rhetoric.

    + Research and teaching experience in the areas of rhetoric and rhetoric across discursive forms

    + Research and teaching experience in early modern thought and literature

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Research and teaching experience in the rhetoric of race.

    + Research expertise in rhetorical analysis of diverse literary forms.
