    Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) is seeking a A&P Technician for the United States Air Force Contractor Logistics Support contract at Tyndall AFB in Panama City, FL. This position is working closely with other experienced A&P technicians on the E-9A Widget (DeHavilland Dash 8 100 series) performing routine maintenance, unscheduled maintenance and minor modifications.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs of aircraft and aircraft engines to ensure airworthiness.

    + Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.

    + Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

    + Inspects turbine blades to detect cracks or breaks.

    + Tests engine operation, using required equipment.

    + Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components, using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.

    + Removes engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck.

    + Disassembles and inspects parts for wear, warping, or other defects.

    + Repairs or replaces defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft.

    + Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.

    + Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including cleaning screens, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.

    + Required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration with current Airframe and Powerplant license.

    + Service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.

    + Specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies.

    + Perform routine inspections.

    + Ability to test run aircraft during busy airport operations.

    + Troubleshoot and repair deficiencies reported by aircrew.

    + Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.

    + Able to perform simple to complex composite repairs.

    Qualifications

    + High School diploma or equivalent.

    + 2 years’ experience turbo prop aircraft.

    + Airframe and Powerplant certificate with no enforcement actions.

    + Basic computer skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products a plus.

    + U.S. citizen with valid driver's license

    Desired Qualifications:

    + Aircraft Maintenance Experience: 2 years’ experience DeHavilland Dash 8 turbo prop aircraft.

    + Engine experience: 2 Years’ experience Pratt & Whitney engine PW-120A.
