We are looking for an Assistant Director, Rail Inter-Carrier Agreements to join our team!
Roles and Responsibilities:
+ Assists Director with negotiating and administering agreements between NJ TRANSIT and its railroad business partners (i.e., Amtrak, MTA Metro-North Railroad, SEPTA, PATH, Norfolk Southern, Conrail, short lines, etc.).
+ Administers contractual payments, collections, and management of contract terms with railroad business partners.
+ Works with Rail Operations Senior Management, Office of General Counsel, Capital Programs, Corporate Finance, Real Estate, Government and Community Relations, and other internal stakeholders to ensure contracts and agreements are in alignment with NJ TRANSIT’s corporate-wide business objectives.
+ Supports NJ TRANSIT’s participation in the Northeast Corridor Infrastructure and Operations Advisory Commission’s Cost Allocation process by gathering required input data and reviewing Cost Model output data affecting NJ TRANSIT.
+ Assists with collection and reporting of Rail Operations statistical data required for the Federal Transit Administration’s National Transit Database.
+ Reviews requests to remove rail-related property from NJ TRANSIT’s inventory with an eye toward impacts to NJ TRANSIT’s partner railroads.
This Position Supervises:
+ Intern(s)
Education and Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or related area from a U.S. Department of Education-accredited college or university,
+ Five (5) or more years of experience in Planning, Public Policy, Rail Operations, Data Science, or a related field.
+ Freight operations experience in addition to passenger is desirable. Experience in performance measurement and financial and economic analysisdesired.
+ Master’s Degree in Business or Public Administrationdesirable.
+ Legal background or Law Degreedesirable.
Knowledge & Skills:
+ Demonstrated proficiency or ability to master skill in use of standard spreadsheet, relational database, and presentation software tools required.
+ Familiarity with business statistical analysis techniques required. Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills required.
Working Environment:
+ Office, w/ occasional field visits.
Physical Demands:
+ Field visits may sometimes include extended periods of walking and climbing up steep slopes, ladders, etc.
