Job Summary

We are seeking a Lead Bridge Engineer to join TYLin’s Bridge Sector in Rockaway, NJ. In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate in a broad portfolio of exciting projects regionally, nationally and internationally. The primary scope of this role is to develop bridge and structure designs for local agencies and design-build clients, deliver projects on time, on budget and with high quality. It requires strong project management skills as well as the ability to lead and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

What You’ll Do:

+ Perform design and analysis of complex concrete and steel bridge structures. Experience with long span bridges is an asset.

+ Advanced structural engineering and analysis capabilities, including ability to perform seismic analysis.

+ Design of concrete and steel bridge structures.

+ Develop designs, contract plans and specifications.

+ Coordinate with and direct CAD production activities for drawing production.

+ Conduct quality control activities for independent review and checking of structural designs.

+ Interface with civil engineers for development of complete project plans and specifications.

+ Develop engineering studies, reports and documentation.

+ Oversee and review calculations and designs performed by engineers.

+ Other assignments as needed.

What You’ll Need:

+ Professional Engineering License (PE) in New Jersey, New York or Pennsylvania.

+ Bachelor’s degree in civil / structural engineering required. Master’s degree preferred.

+ Must have at least 15+ years of structural design experience in bridges and related structures. Project management experience is also required.

+ Ability to perform advanced structural analysis and designs. Experience in CSI Bridge is a plus.

+ Familiarity with AASHTO, NJDOT, PennDOT and NJTA design and standards preferred.

+ Proficient in leading technical aspects of bridge projects, writing reports, preparing drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations.

+ Sound oral and written communication skills.

+ Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.
