Required Skills:

Software Engineer Responsibilities:

1. Research, design, develop, build and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for large distributed components that run applications.

2. Handle large scale data storage, synchronization and coordination of large server clusters, and provide a runtime environment for front end code.

3. Work on problems of diverse scope and design core, backend software components, and code using primarily C/C++, Python, and PHP.

4. Partner & collaborate with other engineering teams to improve efficiency and reliability of code across different backend services, compilers, and frameworks.

5. Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

6. Build large-scale server applications Have a strong understanding of the assigned codebase, product area and/or systems.

7. Identify and drive changes as needed.

8. Conduct design and code reviews, and analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources.

9. Complete medium to large features (each with many tasks) independently without guidance.

10. Interface with other teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa.

11. Produce high quality code with good test coverage, using modern abstractions and frameworks.

Minimum Qualifications:

12. Requires a Master's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences, or a related field.

13. Requires completion of a university-level course, research project, internship, or thesis in the following:

14. 1. Coding in Python, C++, PHP, Javascript

15. 2. Operating systems, web systems, computer organizations

16. 3. Database management systems and knowledge of SQL and noSQ

17. 4. Software development tools: Code editors (VIM or Emacs), and revision control systems (Subversion, GIT, or Perforce)

18. 5. Distributed system including sharding, consistency, and availability

19. 6. Linux, UNIX, or other *nix-like OS including file manipulation, commands, and shell scripting

20. 7. Statistics and data analysis

21. 8. Core web technologies: HTML, CSS, and Javascript

22. 9. Algorithms.

Public Compensation:

$214,032/year to $222,594/year + bonus + equity + benefits
