Description:
Position Purpose:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of nursing care for all types of Oncology patients in the Radiation Oncology department through the use of the nursing process identified by the Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa professional nursing practice plan
What you will Do:
+ Demonstrates customer service to others as a number one priority and accomplishes this by integrating Service Excellence into all aspects of the work day, taking responsibility for service recovery and working for outcomes that delight the customer.
+ Assesses patients and identifies physical, spiritual, nutritional and psychosocial needs for patients requiring all levels of care with a focus on the patient with complex needs.
+ Identifies and manages common side effects associated with cancer treatment and evaluates patient/family response to nursing interventions. Acts as a resource for the nursing process to other clinical nurses.
+ Provides or facilitates learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of the patient and family by assessing the learning needs and formulating and initiating a teaching plan to meet those needs. Collaborates with the patient and family to identify complex teaching needs. Functions as a resource for department staff.
Hours/Schedule:
36 hours, M-F/No Weekends or Holidays
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
1. Graduate of a program in professional nursing.
2. Current RN license in the state of Iowa.
3. Strongly preferred OCN certification within 2 years of employment.
4. After 9 months of employment, must successfully complete the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy course.
