Job Summary and Qualifications

The ER Paramedic may provide services that are within the scope of the ER Paramedic’s State Paramedic Certification without physician supervision and direction and is responsible for implementing technical procedures and care to Emergency Room patients safely and effectively. Any service provided directly to a patient must be pursuant to protocols, procedures and policies of the Hospital and pursuant to an Emergency Provider’s order and in accordance with the applicable standard of care and the requirements of this Job Description. The ER Paramedic reports to the Hospital’s Patient Care Director of Emergency Services. The quality of care and service given will adhere to the philosophy and objectives of HCA in order to meet the healthcare needs of patients and their families. The ER Paramedic may not perform any of the prohibited functions listed in the Job Description.

What qualifications and experience you will need:

+ Current certification / licensure in the State of Texas as a Paramedic

+ Minimum 2-years experience as a field Paramedic with an EMS agency and/or clinical experience working in a hospital

+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

+ Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

+ CPI must be obtained within 180 days of employment start date

Methodist ER DeZavala serves the Northwest and surrounding areas with our 24/7 freestanding emergency center. This 8,100 square foot facility includes 9 all-private treatment rooms and a full range of services. These services include radiology, a full-service laboratory and telemetry. We offer the benefit of immediate intervention for emergencies where treatment time is critical. We provide 24-hour monitoring and testing of patients, such as chest pain cases. Our compassionate team of medical professionals work to stabilize critical patients and transport, should they need hospitalization, to a Methodist hospital in San Antonio. Our service is unmatched!
