Responsibilities
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
+ Ensures the safety needs of the patient and the unit are met
+ monitors and reports equipment for appropriate corrective action
+ monitors environmental safety factors and initiates appropriate corrective action
+ attends Fire/Safety, Hazardous Chemicals, CPR course, and Infection Control classes
+ practices infection control as outlined by Universal Blood and Body Precautions Guidelines
+ Participates in the educational requirements for the unit
+ attends and/or is responsible for all information presented at unit level (staff meetings, communication book, memos)
+ assumes responsibility for orientation of new nursing assistant employees
+ Attends in-service education programs specific to providing care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or mature adult population as applicable to area of practice.
+ Has knowledge of and responds to all emergency situations (Code Blue, fire, evacuation, disaster, etc.).
+ Maintains appropriate PAR levels with stocks as needed (patient supplies, unit clerking supplies)

PRODUCTIVITY:
+ Uses skills necessary for providing safe and efficient patient care
+ observes and promptly reports changes in patient’s behavior or physical condition/emotional status to team leader or charge nurse
+ demonstrates accuracy in performing assigned nursing tasks in a timely manner as outlined in job description/procedure manual
+ maintains pertinent and accurate ADL’s which are easily assessable to the team leader.
+ Adheres to the established policies of the facility and the Department of Nursing (i.e., time and attendance, dress code, and confidentiality)
+ reports to work on time as scheduled and promptly returns to work after breaks and meals.
+ Shift duties: answering patient call lights; cleaning and stocking the utility rooms (including equipment); stocking carts and necessary medical supplies; maintaining and organizing admission packets for the charts; maintaining the inpatient logbook (RN will do the call-backs); organizing charts on discharge; stock the forms drawers.
+ Any other duties (both patient care and non-patient care) as assigned by the nursing staff.

Qualifications
License or Certification:
+ Successfully completed CPR course A & B = valid CPR card.
+ Certification as a “Certified Nursing Assistant”
Total Education, Vocational Training, and Experience:
+ Certified Nursing Assistant or equivalent. Previous nursing assistant experience in a hospital setting preferred but not required.
USD $19.00/Hr. USD $21.00/Hr.
