    Waste Connections (Vancouver, WA)


    **Waste** **Connections** is looking for a safety-minded **CDL** **Route Driver** to join our team in **Vancouver, WA** .

     

    Schedule is **Monday-Friday,** with occasional Saturdays as needed.

     

    Start time is **5:30** **AM** and ends when route is complete; generally 9-10 hours/day.

     

    Union starting rate of pay is **$30.70/HR** .

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Ability to safely operate a garbage truck on specified routes to collect solidwaste.Wasteexperience _preferred_ , but not required.

    + Ability to read an electronic route tablet and service each customer identified on the route or assigned by the dispatcher.

    + Ability to operate hydraulic lift (from inside the cab) to service900+garbage cartsand dispose of trash at designated facilities.

    + Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking fluids,safetyequipment, and tires.

    + Ability to perform a physically demanding job, loading and unloading, at times with no helpers.

    + Courteousinteraction with our customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.​

    WORKING CONDITIONS AND** **PHYSICAL** **EFFORT:

    + Extensivephysicalactivity. Requirestrenuousphysicalwork;heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds many times throughout an 8+ hour shift.

    + Work environment involves exposure tophysicalrisks such as moving mechanical parts. This requires following basicsafetyprecautions.

    + The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.

    MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    + Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement REQUIRED as a minimum.

    + Must have a clean driving record.

    + High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

    + Basic knowledge of truck components in order to complete DOT pre- and post-trip inspections.

    + Employment contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment requirements; criminal background check, motor vehicle report and drug panel screening.
