Brief Position Overview
The College of Technical Sciences at Montana State University Northern ( MSUN ), invites applications for an academic-year (10-month), tenure-track Instructor of Diesel Technology/Agricultural Mechanics Technology to begin August 1, 2025.
Effective teaching is the primary mission of this position at MSU Northern.

Position Details
General Statement
The instructor will teach approximately 24 credit hours of lecture/laboratory courses per academic year. Courses assigned will be in Diesel Technology or Agricultural Mechanics Technology, and may include, but is not limited to fuel systems, electrical/electronic systems, powertrains, chassis, air conditioning, and agricultural equipment.
Academic and career advising will be a responsibility associated with this position. In addition, the hire will be involved in curriculum development, program growth, program assessment and working with an advisory board. Academic responsibilities will also include serving on campus committees, involvement in campus activities and serving as an ambassador and collegiate member of the College of Technical Sciences.
Duties and Responsibilities

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Diesel Technology, a technical or a related field with increasing responsibility and experience demonstrated.
+ Industry experience in the Diesel Technology and or Agricultural Mechanics field.
+ Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications.
Note: Master’s degree will be required for tenure. Bachelor’s Degree in diesel or related field will be required to be considered for an assistant professor.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ Demonstrated recent industry work experience with a strong background in electrical/electronics, hydraulics, brakes, suspensions, automatic transmissions, engines, and air conditioning, powertrains and agricultural equipment in the diesel or agriculture industry
+ Demonstrated experience with grain harvesting equipment, tractors, forage implements, sprayers, tillage, and planting implements
+ Demonstrated strength in interpersonal skills and attributes
+ Experience and willingness to embrace new technologies

A teaching demonstration by the candidate will be required as a part of the interview process.
