Position summary: The operating room technician is responsible for setting up the operating room for each surgery. This is accomplished by checking and providing needed supplies and necessary equipment depending on the type of surgery that will be performed. This is an OSHA Category I. May perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. BLS; Valid certified AST (Association of Surgical Technologists) and/or NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting), or valid CA LVN license, Valid graduation certification from approved O.R. scrub technology school. Knowledge of theory/techniques/practices of surgical intervention, as they relate to the “scrub” role. Able to scrub on a variety of specialty cases. Able to participate in an on-call schedule. Knowledge of AORN standards/practices for perioperative nursing. The job description/competency assessment/performance evaluation is comprised of two levels. To meet Level I criteria, the ORT must meet 100% of the criteria. To meet the Level II criteria, the ORT must met all Level I criteria plus 80% of the Level I criteria at the time of evaluation. Each ORT will be required to present examples during evaluation (Level II).

Salary range: $29.93 - $42.12
