The Patient Escort is responsible for supporting the Mission and Vision of Crittenton Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) by under limited supervision, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, transports patients within the Hospital and other facilities.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
+ Maintains a positive and professional atmosphere for patients.
+ Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical or emotional stress.
+ Transports or escorts patients by wheelchair, stretcher, bed or ambulatory means at scheduled times, or as needed, to and from areas throughout the hospital for testing, treatment, and nursing unit transfers.
+ Ensures patient safety and prevents injuries by using proper lifting techniques, and applying body mechanics principles.
+ Logs patients in and out of departments.
+ Cleans and maintains transportation equipment on a daily basis to avoid injury to patients or hospital personnel.| Moves beds, carts, and other hospital equipment. Return equipment to designated areas.
+ Delivers specimens, blood and blood products, patient charts, and other patient materials to hospital departments or other areas.
+ Checks proper identification of patient before transport.
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
+ Successful completion of the Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support class at time of hire/transfer date required.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
