We continue to lead our community in patient outcomes and safety. Orientation is tailored to your specific unit needs, allowing you to become familiar with a variety of patient care types. St. Joseph’s Health is proud to offer a program to help graduate nurses successfully transition into clinical practice. We have partnered with the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program™ to provide resources to help our new nurses (RN Residents) gain confidence and increase competence during this year long program. Your well-being as a new nurse is enhanced through hands-on training and processing clinical experiences.

As an RN Resident at St. Joseph’s Health, you will receive mentoring from an experienced nurse, build relationships with peers and participate in engaging learning experiences in a supportive environment. The monthly interactive sessions using evidence-based curriculum will increase your ability to:

+ Use effective decision-making skills

+ Provide clinical nursing leadership when administering care

+ Incorporate research-based evidence into practice

+ Strengthen professional commitment to nursing

+ Formulate an individualized professional development plan

There is no separate application to the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program.™ Every graduate nurse or RN with less than one-year experience (hired as RN Residents) will be enrolled based on hire date. St. Joseph’s Health has two cohorts per year, beginning in the Spring and Fall.

What you will do:

+ Responsible for collaboration, communication & facilitation of optimal provision of care with assistance of computerized &/or digital platform that supports the daily management of care.

+ Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring & evaluation of the patient's plan of care from admission to discharge.

+ Utilize clinical knowledge, critical thinking skills & the principles of case management & adult education to coordinate, implement & support the plan of care.

+ Ensure a seamless, effective, efficient transition of care across the continuum.

+ Monitor quality metrics specific to the department & ensure complete & accurate documentation in the patient record.

+ Act as 1) mentor; 2) clinician; 3) educator; 4) consultant/collaborator; and 5) navigator.

+ Ensures quality care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Regulatory Agencies, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service standards of care and practice.

+ Maintains current knowledge of basic health care economics, trends and reimbursements methodologies and applies knowledge to daily practice. Recognizes situations that require immediate intervention. Continues to develop professionally and apply knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to each patient.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

+ **Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York.**

+ Maintains current **BLS/CPR** and ACLS certification.

+ Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Work Environment and Hazards:

+ Clinical setting. Exposure Class I

Physical Demands:

+ Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds. Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.

+ All services, medical staff, patients, visitors, and various regulatory and professional agencies.

Supervised By:

+ Team Leader, Clinical Coordinator, Unit Manager, and Clinical Services/Nursing Administration.

GN Pay Range:** **$32.00 - $38.60

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
