The Robotics Application Engineer will be working as part of a team of dedicated application engineers whose mission is to provide world-class application engineering that directly supports our customers, sales, and marketing organizations. This position will report to the Product Applications Segment group. This team works to ensure FANUC products are properly developed, promoted and used across a wide range of growing industries and applications. The applications this position will focus on are likely to include—but might not be limited to—the following:
* Spot welding using robot-controlled servo guns
* High speed press transfer and press tending with ultra-high duty robots
* Part assembly using robots with force & vision sensors
* Sheet metal joining using automatic tools for screwdriving, riveting, friction welding, and more
* CNC machine tending with collaborative robots Primary responsibilities will include:
* Provide accurate technical guidance to our customers and internal sales organizations when they are considering deploying FANUC robots into these applications
* Typical day-to-day functions include:
* Lead meetings with our customer, sales and internal engineering groups
* Perform testing to ensure the application will be successful
* Clearly document and communicate our plans and progress
* Document and present our proposed solutions:
* PowerPoint presentations, lab demonstrations, videos, written technical summaries, references to existing documentation, and more.
* Lead the preparation and execution of lab and trade show demonstrations to show how FANUC robots can be used in these applications and industries.
* Typical day-to-day functions include:
* Create demonstration concepts for review by FANUC management.
* Test the concept to ensure our products & technologies will perform as required.
* Lead the planning, design, programming, and execution of making the demonstration cell
* Identify opportunities for new product developments to support these industries and applications
* Manage the resolution of critical robot issues related to these applications The ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:
* High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two year's of experience working in an engineering or related field.
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Controls, Robotic, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or related field) or equivalent preferred.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills.
* Strong written and oral communication skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to program and operate industrial robots.
* Proper use of basic hand tools and lab equipment.
* Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and 3D CAD is highly desirable.
* Ability to learn and use new software & hardware as needed to suit the job requirements.
