    Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY: The Speech Language Pathologist, School Based demonstrates an understanding

    of the physical, mental, psychological, and social needs of students; including an understanding of

    communication skills, evaluation, and treatment. The Speech Language Pathologist, School Based

    provides a comprehensive evaluation and goal-oriented treatment to facilitate maximum development

    of communication and/or feeding skills. This position provides direct patient care for children ages 3-21,

     

    including comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, and provision of therapy in the school setting.

    RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    1. Implements treatment plans and programs through consistent daily and weekly schedules focused

     

    on language development and communication to be shared with the school and/or supervisors.

     

    2. Delivers specialized individual and group speech therapy instruction as mandated in the student’s

     

    Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

     

    3. Consults with other professionals (OT, PT, Teachers, etc.) on the student’s treatment team in order to

     

    ensure a cohesive and comprehensive therapy team.

     

    4. Assesses and documents each student’s progress through formal and informal tests and

     

    measurements.

     

    5. Writes and prepares annual review reports/goals for each student in accordance with their IEP dates

     

    and requirements in order to remain in compliance with state guidelines.

     

    6. Provides speech and language expertise when developing FBAs and BIPs.

    7. Provides parent and caregiver support and education to discuss the student’s progress and strategies

     

    for continued support outside of school.

     

    8. Attends all school related meetings as scheduled, such as, but not limited to, Triennials, Annual

     

    Reviews, Domain, Referrals, and pre-IEP meetings for each individual student.

     

    9. Communicates and follows up with schools and families in order to request appropriate physician

     

    signatures/orders for school-based speech language therapy referrals in order to initiate and

     

    continue with services.

     

    10. Assists with implementation of devices and assistive communication technology, as needed.

    11. Follows any fire drill or safety guidelines outlined by the school.

    12. Provides screenings and evaluations to determine requirements for skilled school-based speech

     

    language pathology intervention relative to the client’s level of function; including, but not limited to

     

    the following areas: providing a comprehensive evaluation of communication skills and/or feeding

     

    skills, and providing goal-oriented treatment to facilitate maximum development of communication

     

    and/or feeding skills assessments, discharge planning, development of maintenance programs and

     

    other related client care issues.

     

    13. Provides documentation to maintain the quality of therapy records, as it relates to reimbursement

     

    guidelines, accuracy of billing information, and school requirements.

     

    14. Coordinates and/or participates in training programs for students, school staff, and families.

    15. Participates in school trainings, in-services, and professional development opportunities.

    16. Performs other related duties as required.

    Qualifications

    1. They must possess a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders,

     

    Communicative Disorders or similarly titled area that is consistent and acceptable to the American

     

    Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

     

    2. They must possess or be eligible for a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American

     

    Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or be eligible to participate as an ASHA Clinical Fellow.

     

    3. The Speech Language Pathologist must be licensed, certified or credentialed, as required in the state

     

    of practice.

     

    4. CPR certification is required.

     

    Posted Salary Range

     

    USD $48.00 - USD $53.00 /Hr.

     

    Bonus

     

    USD $3,000.00
