Doula - Contingent - Metro Detroit (Henry Ford)

In the United States, significant racial disparities exist in maternal morbidity and mortality, particularly among Black and Latinx birthing persons. Research shows that in addition to standard nursing care, continuous one-on-one emotional support—such as that provided by Doulas—leads to improved labor outcomes. Studies have demonstrated that this support can shorten labor, reduce the need for analgesia and operative deliveries, and increase overall satisfaction with the birthing experience.

Our mission is to enhance maternal health and well-being, reduce maternal mortality rates, and eliminate racial disparities in health outcomes. To achieve this, we integrate evidence-based practices, including the support of Doulas and Community Health Workers (CHWs), to guide and assist new and expecting mothers through a comprehensive network of social, emotional, and clinical care.
