    The Department of Geography at Binghamton University invites applications for a full-time lecturer position for an appointment beginning August 18, 2025, for up to three years with possibility of renewal. The Lecturer in Geography will teach a range of undergraduate courses in the areas of Introduction to Geography, World Geography, regional geography courses, and urban/economic geography based on departmental needs. The teaching load is 3/3.

     

    We seek candidates with experience in course development and teaching in urban/economic and population issues, as well as broad introductory courses, including the ability to teach introductory geospatial courses. Candidates should possess the ability to teach students skills to analyze human impacts on landscapes. The successful candidate will also supervise MA student projects and serve on project committees. The ideal candidate would complement the department's ongoing community-engaged research and local urban projects.

     

    The Binghamton University Geography Department offers BA and MA degrees and provides a collegial atmosphere focused on the academic and professional development of its students.

    Job Requirements:

    Required:

    + Ph.D. in Geography or closely related discipline by August 18, 2025

    + Experience teaching undergraduate geography courses that introduce core geographic concepts and issues

    Preferred:

    + Experience analyzing human impacts on landscapes

    + Experience leading students in research projects

    + Community engagement experience
