    The primary purpose of this part-time, temporary position is to enforce the tall grass and weed ordinance by inspecting residential and commercial properties for compliance. Additional duties include ensuring adherence to property maintenance codes and other city ordinances.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

     

    + Perform inspections on new structures and existing structures for property maintenance codes, and other city ordinances, with a primary focus on identifying and enforcing tall grass and weed violations.

    + Inform and advise the general public, property owners, and others regarding inspection activities and violation correction procedures.

    + Primarily responsible for verifying and documenting tall grass and weed violations, while also identifying other code violations as needed.

    + Notify builders, contractors, home owners, tenants and business owners of code violations.

    + Perform follow-up inspections for corrected violations.

    + Receives and responds to code violation complaints.

    + Maintains records of inspection activity.

     

    Minimum Training and Experience Required

     

    + A valid driver's license required.

    + Ability to use a computer or tablet, and the ability to interpret municipal code language.

    + Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.

     

    Physical Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

     

    + Ability to work outdoors.
