The Investment Advisory Group (IAG) is responsible for the day-to-day portfolio oversight, manager evaluation, selection, and ongoing due diligence in support of Hartford Funds, with approximately $140B in assets. IAG is seeking an Investment Research Analyst to assume direct ownership and responsibility for a group of funds within an asset class (Fixed Income and Multi-Asset) across Hartford Funds’ mutual fund and ETF complex. This role will provide the opportunity for a highly motivated candidate to expand their knowledge base and learn new skills while partnering with and being mentored by more experienced members of the team. The incumbent will work with members of the investment research team to perform the day-to-day oversight process on our funds and provide investment support to a variety of internal clients.
Responsibilities of the role:
+ Act as a subject matter expert for a subset of mutual funds/ETFs within the Fixed Income and Multi-Asset line-up; responsible for day-to-day oversight of investment strategies and providing investment support to Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and other internal clients
+ Conduct due diligence and communicate findings with respect to investment performance and risk, outlook, and strategy to senior management and the Board of Directors
+ Understand and analyze key trends within the asset class and positioning of competitors
+ Conduct thorough portfolio analysis using Morningstar, Factset, Bloomberg, Lipper and other tools
+ Contribute to product development and management efforts across the Fixed Income and Multi-Asset suite
+ Assist with enhancements of investment tools and processes to monitor markets, fund performance, investment risks, and competitors
+ Collaborate with the broader organization on product positioning, marketing content, and investment insights
Qualifications:
+ BA/BS required; concentration in finance, economics or quantitative discipline very strongly preferred
+ Prior experience involving fixed income analysis/trading, product management, or fund evaluation/oversight viewed favorably
+ Strong quantitative/technical skills – in particular with Excel or other spreadsheet software
+ Knowledge of investment tools for performance analysis and portfolio analytics (i.e., Zephyr, FactSet, Bloomberg, Morningstar, Barclays Live, eVestment)
+ Strong writing and presentation skills
+ Strong organizational skills
+ Excellent relationship building skills
+ Polished and articulate demeanor; projecting a high degree of self-confidence, poise, and executive presence
+ Ability to take initiative, work independently, and work in a team environment
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$80,000 - $150,000
