The department of Academic Support and Access Programs at Farmingdale State College oversees multiple initiatives devoted to providing wraparound services for traditionally underrepresented students. The Data Specialist is responsible for processing data for students who participate in our college opportunity programs including TRIO Student Support Services, the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP), Achieving Completion through Engagement (ACE) program and the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Department, the Data Specialist is a key member of an integrated team that delivers timely and accurate submission of reports as well as administrative support to promote academic success of program participants. The Data Specialist also provides important contributions to promote the continued growth and success of our programs.
Specific job responsibilities include:
+ Maintain student database and track performance outcomes (i.e. graduation rates, GPA, enrollment, early warning, research/internship participation).
+ Evaluate student applications for TRIO, CSTEP and ACE, confirm program eligibility, and assist with Counselor caseload assignments.
+ Develop, administer, and monitor student attendance system and assessments for group events, including summer orientation for new students, to promote engagement and identify areas of support.
+ Assist with the completion of all mandated reports for the US Department of Education, New York State Education Department, and SUNY.
+ Administer and monitor the student opportunity placement form to track research and internship placements for CSTEP.
+ Collaborate with campus departments (i.e. Admissions, AAIC, Registrar) to maintain student data integrity and accuracy utilizing College platforms (i.e. CRM Advise, Slate, Banner).
+ Review early warning grade reports and compile necessary statistics to aid in identification of students in need of remediation.
+ Prepare FSC campus reports as requested.
+ Construction/Maintenance of alumni database and program exit interviews.
+ Perform regular data integrity audits, special projects, and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in a relevant field.
+ Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in data analysis, institutional research, or business analytics.
+ Ability to review, interpret and query data from various platforms.
+ Experience in statistical analysis, communication and visualization of data findings, and technical writing with attention to detail.
+ Ability to effectively work independently on projects, as well as work collaboratively with various constituents.
+ Experience working within higher education, or similar setting.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Master's degree.
+ Experience with student success analytics in higher education.
+ Experience with student information systems, such as Banner.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time Temporary UUP position.
+ For the first 10 working days, beginning Thursday, April 3, 2025, and ending Wednesday, April 16, 2025, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
+ CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Open Until Filled
+ SALARY: $55,151 + $3,400 in downstate location pay = $58,551 Total Compensation. Salary may increase commensurate with experience.
