We are seeking a **CAD Field Technician** to join our team in **Grand Rapids, Michigan** . This position performs a variety of technical engineering-related office and field tasks involved in the planning, design, and construction of power utility systems.

Responsibilities:

+ Produces construction drawings, maps, diagrams, and reports as needed using AutoCAD, ESRI, & MS Office software

+ Site visits for construction staking of power utility transmission and distribution line projects

+ Field inspection of power utility construction projects

+ Performs field mapping services utilizing GPS devices on overhead & underground lines and equipment

+ Performs field inventory of joint-use attachments to utility poles

+ Preparation of construction drawings for substation, transmission and distribution line projects

+ Assistance with permitting for power utility construction projects

+ Operate and maintain company vehicles

Qualifications:

+ High School diploma or equivalent

+ An Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Geography, GIS, or related discipline or equivalent experience in a similar position is preferred

+ Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications

+ 0-4 years or more familiarity with utility infrastructure and mapping systems, including ESRI-based products

+ Must be able to understand mapping terminology, survey, and GIS concepts

+ Must be able to operate, maintain, and protect expensive survey equipment, including GPS units, laser range finders, and electronic transits

+ Capable of working primarily in an outdoor work environment and office environment

+ Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 80 lbs. occasionally with or without an accommodation, sometimes over substantial distances
