Electrical Designer III Location: Greenwood Village, CO CLP Engineering (CLPE) is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm with more than twenty years' experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers. We're seeking an experienced Electrical Designer III to develop, prepare, check and coordinate designs and drawings needed for plant electrical systems. This is a collaborative position where you'll be an active Contributor on our engineering team! Duties and Responsibilities: * Develop accurate designs complying with recognized drafting standards, company practices, policies and procedures. * Prepare and oversee electrical power system design including single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams. * Develop plans, elevations and sections of various electrical systems, inclusive of below ground and above ground designs. * Substation design is a key responsibility. * Perform conduit and cable sizing calculations, ground grid layouts, and details. * Create bill of materials (BOMs) for all components associated with the various electrical system designs. * Ability to prepare as-built drawings from red-line copies. * Assist with complete design checks to assure applicable codes, standards, design/drafting standards, and technical accuracy have been incorporated. * Ability to interface successfully with the customer to provide technical support and integrate designs as required. * Exercise independent judgment to develop designs with minimal direction and may concurrently support multiple projects. * Other duties as assigned. *Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Skills and Qualifications: * Associate degree in drafting, engineering technology or related field preferred. * Five to seven (5-7) years of experience in the design of electrical systems required. * Previous drafting or design experience in the power industry (distribution systems and/or substations) preferred. * Experience with cable tray/conduit layouts, lighting design and grounding. * Ability to perform calculations to document design decisions. * Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software. * Ability to understand and verify applicable electrical design criteria, familiar with construction industry standards. * Must have working technical knowledge of other discipline interfaces. Work Authorization/Security Clearance: * You must be a US Citizen. * You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance. * Valid driver's license is required.
