    UPMC University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse to help support UPMC Department of Neurology located at the Kaufman Building.

     

    Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with flexibility

     

    Department Details: The services we provide include specialized clinics for Huntington’s disease, Multiple Systems Atrophy, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Diffuse Lewy Body disease. Our patients benefit from a multidisciplinary team that includes social work, specialized physical therapists, and genetic counseling. In addition to the medical management of these disorders, we provide deep brain stimulation, botulinum toxin injections and duopa, as well as opportunities for participation in clinical trials.

    Purpose:

    Provides professional nursing care to office patients under supervision of patient care providers.

    Responsibilities:

    + Draw blood.

    + Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).

    + Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip.

    + Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.

    + Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.

    + Comply with all policies and procedures.

    + Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.

    + Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.

    + Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.

    + Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.

    + Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.

    + One year clinical experience preferred. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    + Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

    + Act 34

    *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
