    _The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._

    Responsibilities:

    GENERAL PURPOSE:

    Oversees and coordinates the flow of specimens throughout the laboratory in CoreLab. Provides technical supervision of section and accountable for the professional conduct and technical performance of personnel within area.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    + Coordinates staffing schedules for department specific assignments to meet demands of priority processing in order to meet required turnaround times. Coordinates mealtimes and breaks so that workflow is not compromised. Documents unscheduled absences in the exception log and assignment schedule and updates assignment schedule to reflect unscheduled absences. Monitors employee's daily performance and holds staff accountable for the accurate and timely completion of assigned activities. Directs staff as needed to adjust to job activities and work volume. Mentors staff and participates in employee evaluations and staff competency. Assists in the mediation or diffusion of any personnel conflicts. Promptly discusses any personnel issues with appropriate leadership. Promotes a positive employee engagement environment. Participates in regular feedback, communicating concerns and supporting the implementation of improvement initiatives.

    + Oversees department specific functions to ensure operations are running optimally. Maintains efficient operations to ensure prompt specimen handling and department turn-around times are met. Has accountability for shift clean up. Monitors daily check lists for completion of all pending tasks. Coordinates and communicates information between designated shifts and with staff and Supervisors.

    + Performs troubleshooting as needed. Follows up with written documentation when necessary and makes suggestions for corrective action to department leadership. Defines priorities during extraordinary situations, such as sick calls, scheduled and unscheduled down time, emergency "disaster" situations. Assists technologists in the pre-analytical processing of clinical trial study specimens.

    + Communicates policies and procedures, including safety, security, and customer service protocols. Monitors staff compliance. Participates in Quality Assurance initiatives and data collection for required monitors. Works with leadership team to develop and maintain pre-analytical monitors. Assists in the development and review of requisitions. Makes suggestions to improve requisitions based on customer and staff feedback. Participates in regularly scheduled meetings with leadership. Works with leadership team and laboratory staff to plan for and accomplish departmental and organizational goals and objectives. Assists in identifying opportunities for increased efficiency, cost reduction, and operational problem resolution.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    + Associate's degree and 1 year of laboratory experience required or

    + 2 years of college with a focus in Laboratory Science and technical training closely related to this position required

    + Or equivalent combination of education and experience

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    + Excellent communication, word processing and computer skills required

    + Excellent customer service skills required

    + Ability to maintain professional discretion with confidential patient results required

    + Ability to identify and resolve problems, pay attention to details, and handle frequent interruptions preferred

    + Ability to function well in a rapidly changing environment preferred
